  • L'auteur
  • An emblematic artist of the 1920s, Paul Brandt (1883-1952) played a major role in the revival of modern jewelry and decorative arts. Recognized by his peers, he worked alongside the biggest names, such as Fouquet, Templier and Sandoz. This first monograph retraces his entire journey, drawing on previously unpublished iconography and research. Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Paul Brandt moved to Paris at a very young age, where he pursued an eclectic training. Seduced by the applied arts, he specializes in the creation of jewelry. First in an Art Nouveau style, then Art Deco, he participated in the various artistic events that enliven the capital. Each year, his windows stand out, luminous with modernity, in avant-garde scenographies in which the greatest architects of the time, such as Éric Bagge and Djo-Bourgeois, collaborate. His participation in the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts of 1925 brought him international fame. From the 1930s, he returned to a more industrial art and extended his activity to interior decoration. Today, Paul Brandt is one of the most respected artists in his field and is sought after by dealers and specialists in modern jewelry, as evidenced by the enthusiasm for his creations on the art market.
