  • French designer and architect Marc Held was celebrated in the 1960s for his Culbuto armchair and a polyester double bed for Prisunic, before being invited to be among those who would transform the apartments of the Élysée in 1983. In 1989, having chosen to live in Skopelos, Greece, Marc Held could have put down his pencils... But he redoubled his creative fervor, building his own house, then around fifteen beautiful residences, clinging to the steep slopes of this island in the Aegean Sea. This book presents the key aspects and preparatory drawings from his “Greek period”. The photographs by Deidi von Schaewen and those of the architect himself illustrate a remarkable series of original constructions. Journalist and architecture critic Michèle Champenois reveals the main themes in Held's œuvre, and analyzes the work of a creator who wanted to put Greek artisans at the center of his own work.

Skopelos, or tradition at the service of modernity.
