Freed from modernist rigors, design invades our worlds with a multiplicity of shapes and colors. It is nourished by art, architecture and cinema, and is part of the way society asks questions, giving meaning to objects that past centuries have emptied of their emotional charge, restricted to defined roles – utilitarian, decorative or representative – confined, from the kitchen to the living room, to agreed locations. Resuming the dimension they have in the novels we loved, seats, lamps, bookcases, bottles and cutlery escape today to become the elements of a dream image of ourselves, allowing us to write the story that we give to others to read.
