The final part of the complete works, The 4th volume is largely devoted to Les Arcs, a Savoyard winter and summer leisure resort. For more than twenty years, Charlotte Perriand, pioneer of bioclimatic architecture, directed the urban and architectural design of Arc 1600 and Arc 1800, in collaboration with a team of architects. She also designed the interior architecture of more than 4,500 homes, being involved right down to the choice of the teaspoon.
This exceptional work is the culmination of Charlotte Perriand's research into housing for the masses. Just like her teaching activity at the Besançon School of Fine Arts, her latest developments in Tokyo and Paris, her cultural center project for women or even her tea house, Les Arcs illustrate her genius for pushing back walls to invent a new art of living.
The tributes and retrospectives which crown these seventy years of creation underline her perpetual capacity to renew herself and her status as a visionary woman who spanned the century.
