  • L'auteur
  • After fifteen years of theoretical research, Bernard Tschumi won the Parc de La Villette international competition in Paris in 1982. A renowned architect today, working between New York and Paris, he is the author of very diverse projects: Fresnoy Art School, the Vacheron-Constantin headquarters in Geneva, Lerner Hall at Columbia University in New York, Zénith in Rouen, the University School of Architecture in Miami, the Blue condominium in New York and the Acropolis Museum in Athens. Even though Bernard Tschumi has always refused to bow to formal continuity, his creations bear witness to architectural writing and strong concepts.
The Grand Prix national d'architecture, which he was awarded in 1996, rewarded not only a demanding and singular body of work where intellectual consciousness and physical experience are intimately mixed, but also his writings and teaching, notably at the University of Columbia in New York, from a creator for whom “architecture is not a materialization of forms but a materialization of ideas”.
