  • At the heart of the excitement of the 1980s, a generation of innovative artists – Mark Brazier-Jones, Marco de Gueltzl, Thierry Peltrault, Franck Evennou, Elizabeth Garouste, Hubert Le Gall, Laurence Picot, Andrea Salvetti, later Claude de Wulf – emerged, equipped with talent, complete freedom and eccentricity. Each bears witness to the importance of artistic craftsmanship, and all take particular paths in order to express universal emotions in their own way. This wave of creative genius has been promoted for nearly forty years by Elisabeth Delacarte, who witnessed the changes in the decorative arts of the 20th century, thanks to her gallery, Avant-Scène. In-depth portraits and decoration projects punctuate the book, marking the Delacarte years as a part of the history of contemporary creation.
