  • This second volume retraces particularly important periods of her work: her two stays in Japan in 1940-1941 and 1953-1955, during which she was adviser to the government on the production of industrial art; and her achievements in reconstruction, marked by her collaboration with the Ateliers Jean Prouvé and great architects of the time, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Paul Nelson, Jean de Mailly, Kenzô Tange, etc.

This book highlights her collaboration, crucial to her work, with the Ateliers Jean Prouvé from 1952 to 1955. This collaboration is marked by a set of emblematic achievements and masterpieces of design, such as the Mexico and Tunisia libraries. The work also describes the association of Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret after the war, notably with the American publisher Knoll. It reveals all her projects for Africa, the university cities (Antony, houses of Mexico and Tunisia, House of the medical student), the Marseille Housing Unit by Le Corbusier, as well as the furnishing of many apartments. Reconstruction was also the period of the birth of the Forms Utiles movement in 1949, of which Charlotte Perriand was a co-founder.

The sixty pages of her famous article “The art of living” published in the journal Techniques et Architecture in 1950 are reproduced in full, explaining her thoughts and her approach as an interior architect and designer.
