Michel Buffet

Industrial designer Michel Buffet embodies the aesthetics, shapes and colors of Les Trente Glorieuses.

In charge of the development of numerous planes within Raymond Loewy's IEC, from the Falcon 20 to the Concorde, and that of trains, of the Caracas metro, and of the concept of the Shell group's service stations, Michel Buffet reinvented a true art of living in the transport sector, which he developed from 1985 with his company, Vector Design Industriel.

A furniture designer, he notably designed a modular kitchen, the DF 2000, praised by the Italian magazine Domus. The reflector lighting fixtures he created in the 1950s, initially produced by Luminalite and Robert Mathieu, have, thanks to their curved shapes and delicate bases, become classics reissued by Lignes de Démarcation. As Alain Fleischer points out in the preface to this work, Michel Buffet created "lighting devices which diffuse 'intelligent' light, at the same time as they are themselves plastic works in volume".

Spécialiste des arts décoratifs du xxe siècle et du design, Guillemette Delaporte a été responsable du département Moderne et Contemporain au musée des Arts décoratifs de Paris, puis en charge du développement des collections de sa bibliothèque. Elle y a organisé de nombreuses expositions, parmi lesquelles « Charlotte Perriand, un art de vivre » en 1985 ou « Les Années UAM 1929-1958 » en 1988. Elle est notamment l’auteur de Marcel Gascoin, décorateur des Trente Glorieuses paru aux Éditions Norma (2010). Préface d’Alain Fleischer. Cinéaste, photographe, plasticien et enseignant, il a fondé et dirige depuis 1997 le Fresnoy-Studio national des arts contemporains. Il est également l’auteur de nombreux essais et romans dont L’Amant en culottes courtes (2006), Moi, Sàndor F. (2009) et Effondrement (2015).
