A citizen of the Moroccan kingdom with a rich cultural heritage, and a trained architect at the École spéciale d’architecture in Paris, Taoufik El Oufir chose to be an actor in the renewal of his native country in terms of architecture and town planning. For twenty-four years he has been digging – as a stubborn activist – a furrow that respects the national heritage and sows resolutely contemporary architecture that has the art of fitting in – while at the same time requalifying the sites where he intervenes with as much modesty as ambition, that of building the Morocco of tomorrow. Lionel Blaisse, journalist and architecture critic, follows him in his journey and documents the scale and specificity of his projects.
